Pahoehoe Lava (Rope Lava) dating from a 19th century volcanic eruption (see Description), Santiago Island, Galapagos
Santiago is also known as San Salvador and James Island. The exact date of the eruption causing the extensive flow at Sullivan Bay is uncertain: it seems to have been some time during the second half of the 19th century, possibly 1897.
