Redwing (Turdus iliacus ssp coburni) surrounded by the Chironomid and Simulium flies which gave Myvatn ('fly lake') its name, (Lake) Myvatn, Nordurland eystra (Northeastern Region), Iceland
Fortunately these flies do not bite. Unfortunately they get in every exposed orifice! But they underpin the area's ecology, making Myvatn the prime habitat for bird life that it is.
