A replica of a summer shieling at the Highland Folk Museum, Newtonmore; shallow depth of field so only building is sharply in focus
Shielings were small mountain shelters that farmers and their families built as summertime homes while their stock were grazing the upland pastures. In the Scottish Highlands they were typically made of stones and turves, with a heather roof.
