Skaill House lies adjacent to the neolithic settlement of Skara Brae. It was built in 1620 by Bishop George Graham (Bishop of Orkney from 1615 to 1638) and is owned by the Laird of Breckness. It is open to the public via the adjacent Skara Brae site (Historic Scotland) and is shown as it would have been in the 1950s. The name Skaill is Old Norse for hall, and reflects the norse connections of the area.
