Grey Ducks have hybridised readily with feral Mallard (Anas platyrhynchos), diluting the purity of the species, so that pure-bred individuals are now extremely rare. The faces of these specimens are very Grey Duck-like but the blue not green speculum in the wing with a white edge is typical of Mallard. So these specimens are Grey Duck x Mallard hybrids.
