Gentoo Penguin (Pygoscelis papua papua) guarding its late-hatched chick on the nest, colony beneath Middle Peak, Pebble Island, Falkland Islands
This was the only Gentoo Penguin in the colony with a relatively small nestling. There is every chance that this will not be large enough to survive after the breeding season ends.
