The village of Socoroma relies heavily on the commercial production of oregano, which is harvested twice yearly, around November and April. Note how all the houses are single storey - probably because this is an earthquake area. An earthquake in June 2005 seriously damaged the church, which has since been restored (see other images). The majority of the houses have corrugated iron roofs. Socoroma has an air of prosperity about it.
