Winter's Bark (also called Canelo) (Drymis winteri) in the Chepu River (Rio Chepu) wetlands, Chiloe Island, Chile
The Rio Chepu wetlands were formed in 1960 when a huge earthquake lowered the ground level by 2 metres and the influx of salt water from the sea killed the existing trees. Their skeletal remains still stand. Drymis winteri is native to the Magellanic and Valdivian temperate rainforests of Chile and Argentina.
