The Puna Rhea or Suri is a subspecies of the Lesser Rhea (Nandu) occurring in northern Chile on Altiplano grasslands or salt flats at altitudes over 3500 metres. After laying the eggs the females leave to find another mate while the males incubate the eggs and look after the offspring.
