Stewart Island Weka (Gallirallus australis scotti), Ulva Island, Stewart Island, New Zealand
Movement blur of body and right leg; head sharp.
Wekas are flightless rails, endemic to New Zealand. Unlike their timid counterparts elsewhere, wekas tend to show no fear while trying to raid tourists' bags for anything edible. Four geographically-determined subspecies occur.
