Buff Weka (Gallirallus australis hectori) investigating interesting human stuff, Mou Waho Island, Lake Wanaka, Otago, South Island, New Zealand
Wekas are flightless rails, endemic to New Zealand. Unlike their timid counterparts elsewhere, wekas tend to show no fear while trying to raid tourists' bags for anything edible. Four geographically-determined subspecies occur.
