Adult and juvenile Stewart Island Wekas (Gallirallus australis scotti) forage together for food on Ulva Island shore, Stewart Island, New Zealand
Wekas are flightless rails, endemic to New Zealand. Unlike their timid counterparts elsewhere, wekas tend to show no fear while trying to raid tourists' bags for anything edible. Four geographically-determined subspecies occur.
