After Patagonia the next port of call was the Weddell Sea. Well, not actually a port as such, as there are no ports in the Antarctic Peninsula. Awful weather across the Drake Passage continued in the Weddell Sea, but almost miraculously the packed sea ice unexpectedly allowed an approach, and the winds died sufficiently to enable the helicopters to get in to the Emperor Penguin colony by Snow Hill Island. Just over 20 minutes photography at the colony!
