A great pleasure to revisit one of my old stamping grounds in Nottinghamshire - the Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust reserve of Duke's Wood. The carpets of Wood Anemones are still unequalled! The nodding donkeys and Oil Patch Warrior statue were a timely reminder of the help received from oilmen from the Noble Drilling Corporation of Oaklahoma, USA, who played an important role in the development of Britain's first productive on-shore oilfield during the Second World War.
