Today my website (www.martingracephotography.com) has reached the 18,000 image milestone, courtesy of this juvenile male Eurasian Sparrowhawk (Accipiter nivalis) in flight in my garden. I am grateful that during last spring's Covid-19 lockdown I was able to photograph and post images of birds coming to my garden pond (a few surprises here). And during this winter's lockdown this Sparrowhawk has visited on a regular basis, exhibiting behaviour that I have not seen since the first of its kind appeared early in 2016. I certainly haven't exhausted all the photographic possibilities yet, but I must have an unrivalled collection of images of young male Sparrowhawks in juvenile plumage! I just wish that more males in full adult plumage would start to come, but I think that females are out of the question as they are larger birds and tend to go for larger prey than frequents my garden.
