Mountain (Arctic) Hare (Lepus timidus) tiptoeing slowly, Highlands of Scotland
I watched this wonderfully confiding mountain hare (Lepus timidus) for some time as it went about its hare business. Most of the time it just spent lying in the form it had scraped for itself in the snow, but on one occasion it stood up and tiptoed slowly across, straight in front of me, allowing me ample time to capture this image.
