This extraordinary image shows a juvenile Great Frigatebird flying on only one wing. Something on its right wing irritated the bird and it repeatedly pulled the wing up to chew at it with its bill, while flying solely with the left wing. There was absolutely no deviation in the direction or angle of flight. Frigatebirds have the greatest wingspan to body weight ratio of any bird, which gives them unequalled aerobatic ability and is responsible for their great success as aerial kleptoparasites (harassing and robbing other birds of their food).
