The Police Station was built between 1870 and 1872 by Royal Marines of the Falkland Islands Garrison Company. Governor D'Arcy described it as 'adding considerably to the appearance of the Town, being the only dwelling in Stanley, with the exception of Government House, which may be termed a house'. Various phases of extension and repair have been carried out since, including after the building was badly damaged by a missile during the 1982 Falklands Conflict.
