The cave is some 200 metres deep, 50 metres wide and 30 metres high. The bones of a Mylodon (an extinct prehistoric giant ground sloth about the size of a large bear), were found here in 1895. This particular skeleton of Milodon darwini was around 10000 to 13000 years old, but the species is thought to have become extinct only 5000 years ago.
