Mixed colony of Rockhopper Penguins (Eudyptes chrysocome chrysocome) and Imperial Shags (King Cormorants) (Phalacrocorax atriceps albiventer), Rockhopper Point, Sea Lion Island, Falkland Islands
Eudyptes chrysocome chrysocome is the western form of the Southern Rockhopper Penguin, and breeds around the tip of South America, including the Falkland Islands. It is also called the Western Rockhopper or American Southern Rockhopper. It feeds on krill, squid, octopus, lantern fish, molluscs, plankton, cuttlefish, and mainly crustaceans. Phalacrocorax a. albiventer is called by some the King Shag or King Cormorant (to distinguish it from Phalacrocorax a. atriceps (known as the Blue-Eyed Shag)). Both forms are called Imperial Shag (Imperial Cormorant).
