Note how the pupil sizes of the two eyes are different: there is more light to the left of the image so the bird's right pupil is constricted (smaller) than the other one. Also the right third eyelid is covering the cornea while the left one is not: the third eyelids must work independently when required. The third eyelids of a Sparrowhawk are just about transparent, so the bird never misses anything!
