The Tunwini Cross, Great Urswick, Cumbria
The Tunwini Cross is a rune-inscribed Anglian (Anglo-Saxon) red sandstone cross shaft. According to Professor W G Collingwood (1911), the runic inscription reads: This cross Tunwini erected in memory of Torhtred, a monument to his Lord. Pray for the (his) soul.
