Luxuriant gallery vegetation, Chepu River (Rio Chepu), Chiloe Island, Chile
The Rio Chepu wetlands were formed in 1960 when a huge earthquake lowered the ground level by 2 metres and the influx of salt water from the sea killed the existing trees. Their skeletal remains still stand.
